Kale Everything Seasoning

There’s always an abundance of kale in the garden during the summer and fall. While I love to cook, grill and freeze it, sometimes it’s nice to do something a little different with the extras. Enter the dehydrator. Making kale powder creates a fabulous way to extend the use and versatility of this green. One way I made use of the powder was making this tasty kale everything seasoning.

It’s so simple, you’ll want to put it on everything. Use the seasoning blend on homemade chips, eggs, hummus, popcorn, tomatoes, fish, chicken, and roasted veggies. Options are endless!

Kale Everything Seasoning

  • ½ - ¾ cup dehydrated kale powder

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds

  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds

  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds

  • 1 tbsp dried onion flakes

  • 1 tbsp dried garlic flakes

  • 1-2 tsp flaked sea salt

De-stem kale and place on a single layer on your dehydrator trays. Dehydrate at 125°F for approximately 6 - 8 hours. You’ll want to make sure everything is completely dehydrated. Any moisture can introduce mould. Using a process processor, or spice blender, pulse the dehydrated leaves until a sandy powder.

Combine ½ to ¾ cup of kale powder along with remaining seasoning ingredients. Store in an airtight container or jar for up to 6 months.
